The Company and the Region

The Company and the Region - FORGIONE VINI

Forgione is typically a family-run business and a Peligna Valley enterprise which started on the lands of Prezza (AQ): a small village in inland Abruzzo of ancient origins, perched on the slopes of the mountain of the same name.

It is rightly considered the terrace of the Peligna Valley because from its 580 metres you can admire an extensive landscape surrounded by the most beautiful Abruzzo mountains:

Sirente, Maiella, Morrone and Gran Sasso.

Lands of the wine - FORGIONE VINI

It is now known by the experts how the Peligna Valley offers a pedologic and climatic profile which is unique for the production of wine.

It is here that in 1792 the well-known Michele Torcia, wrote about a wine called Montepulciano for the first time. However, Ovidio had already described his land as "terra fearax cereris, multoque feracior uvae", that is, fertile for wheat and even more fertile for grapes.

The traditional vine species, which have been established for centuries, are Trebbiano and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, to which the local varieties such as Cococciola, Passerina and Pecorino are added.
